The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Praia (1-1) in Sao Paulo on Monday night. Visitors were rolled over by Pinheiros (3-0) 100-75. Pinheiros outrebounded Praia 43-29 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. International center Dikembe Andre (206-99) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Danilo Sena (196-99) contributed with 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Pinheiros players scored in double figures. Forward Gabriel Cunha (188-0) answered with 22 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and Alexsander Vernizz (-0) added 8 points, 6 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Praia. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pinheiros have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Bauru and Rio Claro. Praia at the other side dropped to the sixth place with one game lost. Pinheiros is looking forward to face Minas (#8) in Belo Horizonte in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Praia will play at home against Mogi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
