Regular Season Round 10: Ponce - Santurce 91-89

The most exciting game of round 10 in the BSN took place in Juana Diaz. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers Cangrejeros (4-5) to fifth ranked Leones (4-4) 91-89 in the game for the third place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cangrejeros. 24 personal fouls committed by Cangrejeros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Dominican Victor Liz (193-86) had a double-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and U.S. Virgin Islands-American power forward Jordan Murphy (201-97, college: Minnesota) chipped in 21 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Leones' coach Wilhelmus Caanen used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American Thomas Robinson (208-91, college: Kansas, agency: Network Sports International) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 19 rebounds and 5 blocks and the former international guard Isaac Sosa Carrion (191-90, college: Canisius) scored 27 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Leones moved-up to third place, which they share with Quebradillas. Cangrejeros at the other side keep the third position with five games lost. Leones is looking forward to face Grises (#6) in Humacao in the next round. Cangrejeros will have a break next round.
