There was a small surprise when Metros beat Soles in Santo Domingo 88-80 on Sunday. Metros made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Point guard Adris De Leon (180-84, college: EWU) nailed 22 points and 7 assists for the winning side and American Robert Glenn (203-88, college: IUPUI) accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five Metros players scored in double figures. American Malik Pope (208-96, college: SDSU) came up with 15 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import Nigel Jones (201-90, college: Talladega) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Soles in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Metros will meet at home Huracanes in the next round. Soles will play against Titanes and hope to secure a win.
