This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked UAM (2-2) to fourth ranked Leonas (2-2) 70-67 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of UAM. Leonas held UAM to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.1 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded UAM 67-54 including a 48-34 advantage in offensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by UAM helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Janis Martinez who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists and center Guisselle Rodriguez who added 20 points and 18 rebounds during the contest. Four Leonas players scored in double figures. At the losing side Honduran forward Nelly Rapalo (-99) responded with 24 points and 4 steals (made all of her eight free throws) and Costa Rican forward Laura Castro (179-0) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Leonas moved-up to second place, which they share with UAM and Real Esteli.
