Regular Season Round 23: Guayama - Quebradillas 98-100

The most exciting game of round 23 in the BSN took place in Guayama. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of their close opponent Brujos (13-7) to second ranked Piratas (11-5) 100-98 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Brujos. Piratas dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Brujos' 38 and made 31-of-36 free shots (86.1 percent) during the game. Piratas looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Brujos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American point guard Tu Holloway (183-89, college: Xavier) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 12 assists (was perfect 14-for-14 from the free throw line !!!). His fellow American import forward Will Daniels (202-86, college: URI) chipped in 16 points. Piratas' coach Eddie Casiano used entire bench in such tough game. American power forward Ben McCauley (206-86, college: NC State) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Jonathan Garcia (183-87) added 18 points and 8 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Piratas maintains second place with 11-5 record having five points less than leader Bayamon which they share with defeated Brujos. Brujos at the other side keep the second position with seven games lost. Piratas are looking forward to face Cangrejeros (#4) in Santurce in the next round. Brujos will play at home against Cariduros and are hoping to win this game.
