Regular Season Round 5: UAM - Tipitapa 93-71

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Tipitapa (0-5) was crushed on the road by second ranked UAM (4-2) 93-71 on Saturday. UAM forced 26 Tipitapa turnovers and outrebounded them 55-41 including 37 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Costa Rican forward Laura Castro (179-0) stepped up and scored 32 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and the former international forward Kenia Chamorro chipped in 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four UAM players scored in double figures. Clenia Salazar responded with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and Andrea Suarez (-4) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains second place with 4-2 record having just two points less than leader No Fear. Tipitapa lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost.
