The game between closely ranked teams ended with Dorados' home victory over Abejas 81-74 on Thursday. Dorados made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Dorados especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. American point guard Jamaal Smith (176-85, college: N.Mexico) stepped up and scored 22 points and 8 assists for the winners and naturalized American Durrell Summers (196-89, college: Michigan St.) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Michael Smith (193-95, college: CBU) responded with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import center Gary McGhee (210-88, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Inception Sports) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Dorados and five Abejas players scored in double figures. Abejas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Dorados will meet at home Lenadores in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Abejas will play against Panteras and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
