Rather expected game in Santurce where 6th ranked Atleticos (6-16) were defeated by fourth ranked Cangrejeros (10-9) 90-85 on Monday. Cangrejeros made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Cangrejeros outrebounded Atleticos 46-35 including 32 on the defensive glass. American Frank Gaines (191-90, college: PFW) fired 37 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds for the winners. The other American import Thomas Robinson (208-91, college: Kansas, agency: Network Sports International) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (207-87, college: Georgia Tech) produced 22 points and 8 rebounds and American Paris Bass (203-95, college: Detroit) added 18 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) respectively for lost side. Four Atleticos players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Cangrejeros have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Atleticos at the other side keep the sixth position with 16 games lost. Cangrejeros will meet Cariduros (#5) in the next round. Atleticos will have a break next round.
