The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Vaqueros (17-2) in Bayamon on Friday night. Hosts were edged by second ranked Brujos (17-8) 79-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Vaqueros. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. It was a great evening for the former international forward Christopher Ortiz (203-93, college: Kent St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points. International swingman Alex Franklin (198-88, college: Siena) helped adding 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side international point guard Angel Rodriguez (180-92, college: Miami, FL, agency: Shark Sports Management) responded with 19 points and 6 assists and Cuban center Ismael Romero (205-91, agency: Paris Global Sports) scored 14 points. Five Brujos and four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. Vaqueros' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Brujos have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 17-8 record having just four point less than leader Bayamon. Defending champion Vaqueros still keep top position with two games lost. Brujos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Vaqueros will play at home against Indios and are hoping to win this game.
