There was no surprise in San German where 6th ranked Atleticos (6-19) were defeated by third ranked Piratas (14-9) 113-95 on Saturday. Piratas dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Atleticos' 42 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international swingman Alejandro Carmona (194-83) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 8 rebounds and the former international Michael Rosario (190-90, college: Florida) who added 25 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (207-87, college: Georgia Tech) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and American point guard Tjader Fernandez (178-94) scored 15 points and 7 assists. Four Piratas and five Atleticos players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Piratas have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Fajardo. Atleticos lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 19 games lost. Piratas will meet Mets (#4) in the next round. Atleticos will play against the league's leader Vaqueros in Bayamon and hope to secure a win.
