Rather expected game in Fajardo where 5th ranked Gigantes (5-19) were defeated by second ranked Cariduros (15-10) 114-106. Cariduros players were unselfish on offense dishing 35 assists. American forward Victor Rudd (206-91, college: S.Florida) notched a triple-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the effort and international forward Emmanuel Andujar (197-93, college: Manhattan) supported him with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 22 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) by American Maurice Kemp (203-91, college: ECU) did not help to save the game for Gigantes. His fellow American import point guard Kalin Lucas (185-89, college: Michigan St.) added 16 points and 15 assists for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains second position with 15-10 record having just two points less than leader Bayamon. Gigantes lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 19 games lost. Cariduros will play against Grises (#6) in Humacao in the next round. Gigantes will play at home against the league's leader Vaqueros and hope to get back on the winning track.
