Regular Season Round 13: UAM - Tipitapa 84-62

Very significant was UAM's (#3, 6-6) victory against 4th placed Tipitapa (4-9) 84-62. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Tipitapa. UAM made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 25 Tipitapa turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Tipitapa's players. Honduran forward Nelly Rapalo (-99) stepped up and scored 30 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists (made all of her seven free throws) for the winners and Costa Rican forward Laura Castro (179-0) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws). At the losing side Clenia Salazar responded with 40 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Nicole Castano scored 4 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains third place with 6-6 record having five points less than leader No Fear. Tipitapa at the other side keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. UAM are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Leonas (#5) in the next round. Tipitapa will have a break next round.
