Regular Season Round 8: Abejas - Dorados 87-79

No shocking result in a game when first ranked Abejas (7-5) beat one of their biggest challengers Dorados (5-5) in Guanajuato 87-79 on Thursday. The winners were led by American guard Spencer Williams (188-95, college: Wooster) who scored that evening 19 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and the other American import guard Michael Smith (193-95, college: CBU) supported him with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by Dominican forward Juan Suero (196-93) did not help to save the game for Dorados. The former international guard Cezar Guerrero (185-92, college: Fresno St.) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Five Abejas and four Dorados players scored in double figures. Dorados' coach Gustavo Pacheco rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Abejas maintains first position with 7-5 record, which they share with Soles and Astros. Loser Dorados dropped to the second place with five games lost. Abejas will meet Panteras (#5) in the next round. Dorados will play against Lenadores in Durango and hope to secure a win.
