Regular Season Round 4: El Rapido - Santa Tecla 84-92

Liga MB top team - Santa Tecla (4-0) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat eighth ranked El Rapido (0-3) in La Union 92-84. Santa Tecla dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to El Rapido's 20. They outrebounded El Rapido 52-23 including a 35-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Santa Tecla looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by center Carlos Arias (200-89) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points and 20 rebounds and American forward Arsenio Arrington (206-96, college: Aquinas Coll.) supported him with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Four Santa Tecla players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 8 assists by American point guard Jerry Price (170, college: Rowan) did not help to save the game for El Rapido. Power forward Giovanny Martinez added 10 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Santa Tecla have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 4-0 record. Loser El Rapido still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Cojute. Santa Tecla will meet league's second-placed Aguila in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. El Rapido will have a break next round.
