Regular Season Round 10: Toros - Caballos 62-81

Bottom-ranked Toros (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 81-62 loss to sixth ranked Caballos (2-7) in David on Saturday evening. They also forced 21 Toros turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Venezuelan center Carlos Rodriguez (206-89) had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds, 11 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized American Adalberto Rojas (200-86) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Caballos players scored in double figures. At the losing side Colombian center John Hernandez (207-84) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks and Oscar Zephyrine (190-0) scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains sixth position with 2-7 record. Loser Toros still closes the standings with nine games lost. Caballos will meet league's second-placed Halcones in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Toros will play against the league's leader Correcaminos (#1) in Colon and hope to get finally their first victory.
