Regular Season Round 9: Remeros - Montevideo 76-25
Date: October 3, 2021
Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Remeros (5-3) smashed at home 10th ranked Montevideo (1-6) 76-25 on Sunday. Remeros held Montevideo to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Remeros forced 38 Montevideo turnovers and outrebounded them 45-28 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 3 passes made by Montevideo's players. The best player for the winners was Argentinian center Ornela Bacchini (188-89, college: OLLU) who scored 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Forward Pia Moyano (170-95) chipped in 9 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Victoria Cardone (160-94) who recorded 9 points and 7 rebounds and Florencia Cardoso (-99) added 9 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Remeros. They moved-up to fifth place. Montevideo lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with six games lost. Remeros will meet at home higher ranked Hebraica (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Montevideo will play against Aguada (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
