Regular Season Round 4: Panteras - Aguilas 77-48

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Panama City: Panteras (#2) and Aguilas (#3). Panteras (4-1) smashed visiting Aguilas (2-2) by 29 points 77-48. Panteras held Aguilas to an opponent 24.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 31.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Panteras forced 22 Aguilas turnovers and outrebounded them 54-38 including 17 on the offensive glass. Aguilas were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized American guard Ashley Reid (165-98, college: Wichita St.) who helped to win the game recording 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Ana Ramos contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Alina Arrocha (163) replied with 24 points and center Charissa Hudson (194) added 4 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Aguilas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panteras have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 4-1 record having just one point less than leader Correcaminos. Aguilas at the other side keep the third place with two games lost. Panteras will play against league's leader Correcaminos in Colon in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aguilas' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Panama City to the arena LA U.
