Regular Season Round 10: Malvin - Yale 103-38

Very expected game in Montevideo where 9th ranked Yale (3-5) was rolled over by fourth ranked Malvin (7-2) 103-38 on Sunday. Malvin dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Yale's 14. Malvin forced 25 Yale turnovers and outrebounded them 43-13 including a 21-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Yale's players. Argentinian center Johanna Puchetti (191-87) had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Florencia Somma (175-88) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Malvin's coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side point guard Mariangel Santana (160-3) responded with 14 points and 4 steals and guard Sofia Podesta (161-3) scored 14 points. Malvin moved-up to second place, which they share with Bohemios. Loser Yale keeps the ninth position with five games lost. Malvin will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Yale will play against Lagomar (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
