The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Caballos' (2-10) road loss to fifth ranked Dragones (7-5) 67-95 on Tuesday. Dragones dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Caballos' 30. They outrebounded Caballos 54-38 including 39 on the defensive glass. Dragones looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Forward Pablo Rivas (198-94, college: NCCU) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and Gil Atencio (202-96, college: St.Clair) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Rivas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Dragones players scored in double figures. At the losing side British center Dylan Johns (211-93, college: CSUN) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and naturalized American point guard CJ Rodriguez (188-94, college: S.Nazarene) scored 9 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Dragones moved-up to fourth place. Caballos lost their third game in a row. Defending champion keep the sixth position with ten games lost. Dragones' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Panama City Panteras.
