Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Atenienses (7-8) smashed on the road bottom-ranked Toa Baja (1-14) 79-51 on Thursday. They outrebounded Toa Baja 49-27 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Atenienses looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was power forward Lyndra Littles Weaver (185-87, college: Virginia) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 16 rebounds. Forward Kathryn Westbeld (188, college: Notre Dame) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Caitlin Jenkins (190, college: Rutgers) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and power forward Kianna Wynn (183-97, college: Barton, NC) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Defending champion maintains fifth position with 7-8 record. Toa Baja lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost. Atenienses will meet higher ranked Cidra (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Toa Baja will play again against Atenienses (#5) in Manati and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
