Regular Season Round 1: Ancud - Puerto Varas 62-87

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Ancud at the home court. Hosts were rolled over by Puerto Varas 87-62. Puerto Varas outrebounded Ancud 44-28 including a 37-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international guard Franco Morales (179-92) stepped up and scored 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winners and the former international point guard Tomas Alvarez (185-89) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. Four Puerto Varas players scored in double figures. Puerto Varas' coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Ricardo Armijo (194-95) responded with 15 points and 8 rebounds (made all of her nine free throws !!!) and point guard Francisco Pavez (178-92) scored 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Puerto Varas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ancud will play on the road against Puerto Montt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
