Regular Season Round 11: Soles - Abejas 94-85

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Soles (12-6) defeated 4th placed Abejas (8-10) in Mexicali 94-85 on Sunday. They outrebounded Abejas 36-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. Soles looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Abejas' players. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for guard Jordan Swing (198-90, college: UAB) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Joe Lawson (201-92, college: Indianapolis, agency: Inception Sports) accounted for 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Lawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Soles players scored in double figures. Guard Michael Smith (193-95, college: CBU) came up with 28 points and 6 assists and center Gary McGhee (210-88, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Inception Sports) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Abejas in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Soles maintains first place with 12-6 record. Abejas lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the third position with ten games lost. They share it with Plateros. Soles will meet Panteras (#5) in the next round. Abejas will play against Astros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
