Regular Season Round 11: Plateros - Lenadores 92-59

The game between closely ranked teams ended with third ranked Plateros' (8-10) home victory over 4th placed Lenadores (6-11) in Fresnillo 92-59 on Monday. Plateros dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Lenadores' 26. Plateros forced 21 Lenadores turnovers and outrebounded them 37-25 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Lenadores' players. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: UNC) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (183-86, college: WKU) accounted for 12 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. Five Plateros players scored in double figures. Plateros' coach Juan Jose Pidal felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Jerry Evans (203-90, college: Nevada) came up with 17 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Germain Jordan (198-86, college: Dillard) added 15 points respectively for Lenadores in the defeat. Plateros maintains third place with 8-10 record having just one point less than leader Soles, which they share with Abejas. Loser Lenadores dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Plateros will meet league's second-placed Libertadores in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lenadores will play against Halcones UV Xalapa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
