Regular Season Round 11: Chalchuapa - Cojute 91-117

Bottom-ranked Chalchuapa (0-9) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their ninth consecutive match to ninth ranked Cojute (2-7) 117-91 on Tuesday evening. Cojute dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 56. Cojute forced 27 Chalchuapa turnovers and outrebounded them 49-32 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American swingman Zekiah Owens (197-98, college: AIC) who had a double-double by scoring 51 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. American guard Devan Downey (175-87, college: S.Carolina) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 18 rebounds. Point guard Raul Miranda (175-96) produced 35 points (!!!) and Puerto Rican point guard Ryann Abraham (182-87, college: App State) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Chalchuapa players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cojute moved-up to seventh place, which they share with El Rapido. Chalchuapa at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. Cojute will meet higher ranked Fantasmas (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Chalchuapa will play against Santa Tecla (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
