Date: October 21, 2021
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Halcones as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Halcones smashed bottom-ranked Toros in Panama City 92-55. Halcones dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Toros' 24. Halcones forced 23 Toros turnovers and outrebounded them 48-36 including a 39-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Toros' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Halcones made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for American guard Logan Santiago (185, college: AIC) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 6 assists. The former international Anell Alexis (200-90, college: Marist) helped adding 22 points (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). The best for the losing side was point guard Daniel Machore (170-6) with 9 points and 4 assists and forward Gilberto de Gracia (194-0) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Halcones (10-2) have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Toros at the other side still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Toros will play next round against Caballos trying to get back on the winning streak. Halcones will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Atletico. It will be extra interesting game as Atletico is their local rival from Panama City.
