Regular Season Round 5: Panteras - Correcaminos 59-66

An interesting game for Correcaminos (5-0) which played road game in Panama City against second-ranked Panteras (4-2). Leader Correcaminos managed to get a 7-point victory 66-59. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Panteras. Colombian forward Mabel Martinez (180-86) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 20 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Colombian power forward Tathiana Mosquera (197-89) chipped in 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Power forward Maria de Gracia responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds and naturalized American guard Ashley Reid (165-98, college: Wichita St.) scored 19 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Correcaminos have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 5-0 record. Panteras at the other side keep the second position with two games lost. Correcaminos will play against bottom-ranked Atletico (#6) in Panama City in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Panteras' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Panama City to the arena LA U.
