LSB top team - Brumas (16-4) had no problems winning another game on Tuesday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Indigenas (3-17) in Jinotega 106-64. Brumas dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Indigenas' 46. Brumas forced 25 Indigenas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Indigenas' players. It was a good game for American center Leon Hampton (213-95, college: Stillman) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Romario Ponce (180-95) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Hampton is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Brumas players scored in double figures. Brumas' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dominican center Teodoro Romero replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and American James Edmond Jr (205-91, college: Lincoln, MO) added 24 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Indigenas. Brumas have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-4 record. Indigenas at the other side keep the eighth place with 17 games lost. Brumas are looking forward to face Rivas (#4) in the next round. Indigenas will play against Leones MGA (#6) in Managua and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
