The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Panama City: Halcones (#2) and Panteras (#5). Halcones (12-3) won against visiting Panteras (8-7) 77-73. They outrebounded Panteras 54-33 including a 17-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Panteras helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Naturalized Chilean guard Eugenio Luzcando (187-95, college: Idaho St.) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Troy Jones (201-92, college: TAMUK) chipped in 22 points. Four Halcones players scored in double figures. Dominican forward Cristian Joan Duran (201-96, college: Tenn Tech) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and Alejandro Grant (199-93) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Halcones maintains second place with 12-3 record behind leader Correcaminos. Panteras at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Atletico Nacional. Halcones' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Panama City to the arena Dragones.
