Regular Season Round 16: Santa Ana - El Rapido 98-92

Date: October 31, 2021
Very expected game when 8th ranked El Rapido (2-11) lost on the road to fourth ranked Santa Ana (9-4) 98-92 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Santa Ana made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a very good performance for American forward Maurice Taylor (198-94, college: Niagara) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 6 assists. The other American import center Marc Montavious (206-90, college: Georgetown, KY) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 18 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Taylor is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American Reggie Baker (193-93, college: BCU) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and Puerto Rican center Giovanny Martinez (206, college: Jarvis Christian) added 15 points and 15 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for El Rapido. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santa Ana moved-up to third place. El Rapido lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
