Regular Season Round 5: Piratas - Cimarrones 82-89

Bottom-ranked Piratas (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 89-82 loss to seventh ranked Cimarrones (3-1) in Bogota on Monday evening. American Dominique Morrison (198-89, college: ORU, agency: Haylett Sports) stepped up and scored 26 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and his fellow American import guard Gabriel Belardo (188-89, college: FIU) chipped in 27 points and 5 assists. Belardo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Cimarrones players scored in double figures. The former international guard Yildon Mendoza (206-96, college: Angelo St.) responded with 25 points and 8 rebounds and American forward James Harrison (203-96, college: ETSU) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cimarrones moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Tigrillos. Piratas lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Bucaros. Cimarrones will meet Cafeteros (#6) in the next round. Piratas will play against Corsarios (#9) and look forward to get finally their first victory.
