Regular Season Round 33: Leones MGA - Brumas 83-68

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Brumas (18-6) in Managua on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Leones MGA (13-9) 83-68. Leones MGA dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Brumas' 36. Leones MGA forced 21 Brumas turnovers. It was a good game for American forward Chris Blake (195-88, college: Detroit) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import Cameron Lard (206-97, college: Iowa St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Puerto Rican Xavier Zambrana (193-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and American center Leon Hampton (213-95, college: Stillman) added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Brumas. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leones MGA have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Brumas at the other side still keep top position with six games lost. Leones MGA are looking forward to face Leon (#7) in the next round. Brumas will have a break next round.
