Finals Game 1: Guaynabo - Arecibo 68-95

Arecibo knocked down Guaynabo to open win count in the BSN Finals. Capitanes dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Mets' 44 and made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Capitanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Capitanes made 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Dominican Victor Liz (193-86) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) for the winners. Five Capitanes players scored in double figures. Ghanian center Amida Brimah (213-94, college: UConn) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks and Panamanian forward Tony Bishop (201-89, college: Texas St., agency: 011 Sports) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Mets. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
