Regular Season Round 5: Union SF - Ferro 72-84

Everything could happen in Santa Fe at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Ferro and 17th ranked Union SF had identical 2-2 record. But Union SF was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Buenos Aires 84-72 on Monday night. Ferro forced 20 Union SF turnovers. Point guard Tomas Spano (183-98) stepped up and scored 19 points for the winners and point guard Juan Laterza (180-97) chipped in 17 points and 4 steals. Naturalized Spanish swingman Maximiliano Martin (190-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Andres Jaime (184-0) scored 15 points. Five Union SF players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ferro (3-2) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Riachuelo LR. Newly promoted Union SF dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Ferro will meet at home Atenas (#17) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Union SF will play against La Union (#15) and hope to secure a win.
