The game between closely ranked teams ended with sixth ranked Sunset's (4-1) road victory over 7th ranked Gorlias (2-3) 73-39 on Thursday. Sunset dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Gorlias' 26. Sunset forced 25 Gorlias turnovers. Point guard Alejandra Ayala (174-93) nailed 19 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side and center Paola Ortiz (172-1) accounted for 12 points and 11 rebounds. Five Sunset players scored in double figures. Sunset's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Leslie Bonilla (165-6) came up with 20 points and Nicole Ayala (171-5) added 3 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Gorlias in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Sunset. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Sivar. Gorlias lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Salvadorenas. Sunset will meet at home Salvadorenas (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Gorlias will play against the league's second-placed Lincoln in San Salvador and hope to secure a win.
