There was a minor upset when 12th ranked Rio Claro (3-5) lost at home to fifteenth ranked Corinthians (2-5) 75-63 on Saturday. Corinthians outrebounded Rio Claro 35-20 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. American-Peruvian guard Kyle Fuller (184-92, college: Vanderbilt) nailed 19 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winning side and Argentinian point guard Diego Figueredo (180-91, agency: BIG) accounted for 14 points and 4 assists. The former international point guard Arthur Pecos (183-94) came up with 15 points and the former international Betinho Duarte (195-88) added 13 points respectively for Rio Claro in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Corinthians moved-up to fourteenth place. Loser Rio Claro keeps the twelfth position with five games lost. Corinthians will meet at home Brasilia (#16) in the next round. Rio Claro will play against the league's second-placed Flamengo (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
