Important game to mention about took place in Santa Tecla. Sixth ranked Sivar (4-1) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 8th ranked Salvadorenas (2-3) 48-47 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Salvadorenas. Sivar held Salvadorenas to an opponent 24.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 28.1 percent accuracy of the winners. Sivar forced 19 Salvadorenas turnovers and had a 43-32 advantage in offensive rebounds. Allison Marroquin (167-3) stepped up and scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Yansi Duarte (168-1) chipped in 4 points and 20 rebounds. Forward Gabriela Alfaro (167-4) responded with a triple-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 10 steals and center Fatima Tejada (175-5) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Sivar. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Sunset. Salvadorenas at the other side dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Gorlias. Sivar will play against Bulldogs (#5) in the next round. Salvadorenas will play against Sunset and hope to get back on the winning track.
