Regular Season Round 6: Pastoras de Lara - Patriotas 70-78

An exciting game was played in Barquisimeto. Second ranked Patriotas faced 4th ranked Pastoras de Lara. Guests from Barinas (5-3) defeated host Pastoras de Lara (2-6) 78-70. They outrebounded Pastoras de Lara 48-24 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for Marian Varrone who led her team to a victory with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Center Keisi Moreno (180-1) contributed with 14 points and 7 assists for the winners. Barbara Pico (-2) replied with 18 points, 8 assists and 5 steals and international center Dayenlys Veliz (179-0) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Pastoras de Lara. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Patriotas have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Patriotas maintains second position with 5-3 record having just two points less than leader Anzoategui. Pastoras de Lara lost third consecutive game. Pastoras de Lara at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with Yaracuyanas. Patriotas will play against league's leader Anzoategui in Puerto La Cruz in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Pastoras de Lara will play on the road against Yaracuyanas in San Felipe and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
