Regular Season Round 17: Colon SF - Echague 84-87

The most exciting game of round 17 in the La Liga Argentina took place in Santa Fe. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of second-ranked Colon SF (7-6) to fourth ranked Echague (1-13) 87-84 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Colon SF. They outrebounded Colon SF 37-22 including 27 on the defensive glass. Echague looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Power forward Lisandro Caraballo orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 10 rebounds. Power forward Mauro Cerone (201-91, agency: BIG) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Echague players scored in double figures. Joaquin Rios (186) answered with 29 points and point guard Lautaro Pividori (184-1) added 14 points in the effort for Colon SF. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. Echague maintains fourth place with 1-13 record. Newly promoted Colon SF keeps the second position with six games lost. Echague will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Colon SF will play on the road against Libertad in Sunchales and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
