Regular Season Round 8: Llaneros - Heroes 74-72

The most exciting game of round 8 in the Cup took place in Caracas. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Heroes (2-7) to sixth ranked Llaneros (3-5) 74-72 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Heroes. Llaneros made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Heroes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Jose Martinez (196-82) who scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Francisco Marquez (190-93) chipped in 10 points. Swingman Kevin Nino (195-91) produced 23 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Llaneros moved-up to fifth place. Heroes at the other side keep the seventh position with seven games lost. Llaneros' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Caracas to the arena Cocodrilos.
