Rather expected game in Caracas where 3rd placed Trotamundos (4-5) were defeated by first ranked Spartans (8-1) 72-67 on Friday. Spartans looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was international guard Yohanner Sifontes (192-95) who scored 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). International center Windi Graterol (204-86) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Naturalized American Donta Smith (201-83, college: SE Illinois JC) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Keron DeShields (190-92, college: Tennessee St., agency: BIG) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Spartans maintains first place with 8-1 record. Defending champion Trotamundos keep the third position with five games lost. They share it with Broncos. Spartans' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Caracas to the arena Llaneros.
