Very expected game in Barquisimeto where 5th ranked Pastoras de Lara (2-10) was defeated by first ranked Anzoategui (11-1) 58-54 on Friday. Anzoategui forced 23 Pastoras de Lara turnovers and outrebounded them 48-28 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Rosibel Mendoza who scored 11 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). The former international center Veronica Hernandez (-87) chipped in 6 points and 11 rebounds. International center Dayenlys Veliz (179-0) produced 17 points and 5 steals and forward Danielis Ysasis (180-4) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Anzoategui have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-1 record. Pastoras de Lara lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with ten games lost.
