There was a surprise result in La Rioja where ninth ranked Riachuelo LR (4-2) edged higher ranked San Martin (5-2) 78-75 on Saturday. They outrebounded San Martin 41-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Rodrigo Sanchez (200-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Nicolas Paletta (179-87) who added 17 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four Riachuelo LR players scored in double figures. International Matias Solanas (192-98) responded with 32 points (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) and the former international forward Fabian Ramirez (200-90) scored 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. San Martin's coach Diego Vadell rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Riachuelo LR maintains ninth position with 4-2 record. Loser San Martin keeps the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with Gimnasia and San Lorenzo. Riachuelo LR will meet Union SF (#18) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. San Martin will play against Olimpico (#10) in La Banda and hope to secure a win.
