No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Sunset (6-2) crushed at home 10th ranked Marlins (1-6) 103-25 on Thursday. Sunset held Marlins to an opponent 19.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Sunset forced 30 Marlins turnovers and outrebounded them 60-33 including a 25-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 3 passes made by Marlins' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sunset made 7 blocks. The winners were led by point guard Alejandra Ayala (174-93) who had that evening a triple-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 14 rebounds, 12 assists and 4 steals and point guard Paola Campos (165-1) supported her with 44 points (!!!), 7 assists and 7 steals. Even 7 points by forward Valeria Cornejo (169-7) did not help to save the game for Marlins. Valeria Murcia added 2 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Marlins' coach gave up on the game allowing to play fourteen players seeing no chance for a win. Sunset moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sivar. Marlins lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. Sunset will meet at home league's leader Lincoln in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Marlins will have a break next round.
