Rather predictable result when ninth ranked Penarol (3-3) edged 11th ranked O.Mundial (2-6) in Montevideo 75-74 on Friday. American players dominated the game. Center Lee Roberts (203-87, college: Findlay, OH) notched 20 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and John Flowers (200-89, college: WVU) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five Penarol players scored in double figures. Penarol's coach Pablo Lopez used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 23 points and 5 assists by point guard Justin Pierce (193-90, college: Averett) did not help to save the game for O.Mundial. Forward Anthony Danridge (196-86, college: N.Mexico) added 24 points for lost side. Penarol have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Nacional and Urunday. O.Mundial lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with six games lost. They share it with Trouville. Penarol's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Defensor.
