Everything could happen in Cordoba at the game between two tied teams. Both nineteenth ranked Platense and 18th ranked Atenas had identical 2-8 record. But Atenas was not able to use a home court advantage and was smashed by the opponent from Florida 95-71 on Friday night. Platense shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by point guard Andres Lugli (188-95) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 7 steals and swingman Lucas Goldenberg (190-93) supported him with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Platense players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds by American guard Latraius Mosley (198-90, college: Life) did not help to save the game for Atenas. Naturalized Italian center Omar Canton (205-82) added 11 points and 5 rebounds. Platense (3-8) moved-up to eighteenth place. Loser Atenas dropped to the bottom position with nine games lost. Platense will meet at home higher ranked Ferro (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Atenas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Cordoba to the arena Instituto.
