No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Penarol (10-5) beat 12th ranked Riachuelo LR (6-7) in Mar del Plata 92-80 on Wednesday. Penarol made 26-of-34 free shots (76.5 percent) during the game. Penarol outrebounded Riachuelo LR 38-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for naturalized American power forward Phillip Lockett (202-88) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Tevin Glass (206-94, college: ETSU, agency: BIG) accounted for 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. The former international forward Selem Safar (191-87) came up with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Nicolas Paletta (179-87) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Riachuelo LR in the defeat. Five Penarol and four Riachuelo LR players scored in double figures. Penarol have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Ferro. Newly promoted Riachuelo LR keeps the twelfth position with seven games lost. Penarol will meet at home Olimpico (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Riachuelo LR will play against Regatas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
