Bottom-ranked L.M.Mons. (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 59-30 loss to tenth ranked Marlins (3-6) in Santa Ana on Thursday evening. They held L.M.Mons. to an opponent 19.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 35.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Marlins forced 39 L.M.Mons. turnovers. Guard Gracia Gonzalez (156-7) fired 16 points for the winners. Forward Valeria Cornejo (169-7) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals. Point guard Karen Guevara (163-88) produced 0 points and 12 rebounds and Alejandra Alonso (160-98) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Marlins moved-up to ninth place. L.M.Mons. at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. Marlins are looking forward to face league's leader Lincoln in San Salvador in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
