There was a minor upset when 16th ranked Comunicaciones (4-9) was outscored by nineteenth ranked Platense (4-8) in Mercedes 86-60 on Friday. Platense dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Comunicaciones' 18. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Andres Lugli (188-95) who led the winners and scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Felipe Pais (183-90) accounted for 17 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Four Platense players scored in double figures. Forward Alejandro Diez (201-87) came up with 15 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Federico Mariani (190-92) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Comunicaciones in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Platense have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to seventeenth place. Comunicaciones lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighteenth position with nine games lost. Platense will meet higher ranked Obera (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Comunicaciones will play against San Lorenzo (#7) and hope to secure a win.
