There was a surprise result when seventeenth ranked La Union (5-10) rolled over higher ranked Argentino (5-8) in Junin 97-74 on Friday. La Union made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for naturalized Spanish guard Jonathan Maldonado (188-90) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Patricio Tabarez (195-91) accounted for 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Five La Union players scored in double figures. Point guard Juan Rodriguez (178-91) came up with 17 points and guard Emiliano Correa (188-91) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Argentino in the defeat. Argentino's coach Juan Manuel Varas gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. La Union moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Union SF. Loser Argentino keeps the thirteenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Olimpico. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
