Regular Season Round 6: Punto R. - UDJ 77-78

Punto R. (1-1) recorded its first loss at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by fourth ranked UDJ (0-3) 78-77. UDJ outrebounded Punto R. 54-35 including 16 on the offensive glass. 27 personal fouls committed by Punto R. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was guard Heidy Guayaquil (157-99) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Ana Mora (169-99) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Doris Lasso (164-93) who recorded 20 points and 8 rebounds and Hipatia Valencia (-3) added 16 points respectively. Four Punto R. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. UDJ maintains fourth position with 0-3 record. Punto R. at the other side keeps the third place with one game lost. UDJ will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Punto R. will play again on the road against UDJ in Quininde and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
